AI speeds up editing, but creative choices still need a human touch. 🛠️

One of the most exciting developments in editing is the use of AI for fine-tuning content and streamlining some processes.
In one of my latest projects, I incorporated AI-based tools to enhance or simplify certain elements - like After-Effects content-aware fill to help me with the eyes in the photo below; Davinci Resolve's auto-color balancing to tackle the basic grade of some tough shots; or even Adobe Podcast's audio tools to help me clean up the audio of the film's dialogue. 📣

With the click of a button and some slight finagling, these tools helped cut down editing times from several hours to just a couple.
These allowed me to spend more time on the elements that truly require my artistic direction—like perfecting the minute details of the sound design or special effects that really help prop up the gestalt of the film.

🐌 What’s fascinating to me is just how much time AI can save when dealing with repetitive tasks. Where I once spent hours adjusting specific color tones or cutting out a single background noise with frequencies, AI now gets it done in minutes. This makes a huge difference when deadlines are tight and creativity is flowing! Yet, I always step back in and do several passes of my own, to make sure that every frame is aligned with my creative vision.
What uses do you find for AI to save you time? ✂️
